About Visions Watercolor Workshops...

The Visions Watercolor Workshops offers you opportunity to take a break and get involved with the watercolor medium and gain valuable knowledge and skills that can be applied to future works. Classes are conducted in a studio atmosphere using a variety of projected slides that provide subject matter for the class to study and paint.

Instructor, Rudy Amatangelo, believes more in the importance of an artist's ability to observe, study and compose a subject than painting it...which is the easiest part. Therefore he begins each painting class by reviewing and discussing the slide subject with the class. This provides insight as well as a foundation for the application of fundamental design and composition principals as related to the subject.

Rudy then demonstrates and shares personal techniques. The class follows by working at their own individual level with guidance and encouragement from him. Later, as part of the program, Rudy will conduct a overall critique of the day's work. This important phase of the workshop gives everyone additional insight in design and aesthetics as applied to subject matter.

*PLEASE NOTE: I regret to announce that the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District has recently announced that Atwood Lake Resort will close down on October 1 2010.  The Lodge has been for sale during the past year. Unless there is a change in plans or new owners that  will reopen the Lodge, the 2 workshop dates posted above will be the last at Atwood.

The watercolor workshops that I conducted each year at Atwood began in 1976 and continued for 34 straight years. I'm sure that there is no other group that can make such a claim. My September workshop comes very close to being the last event at Atwood before the October 1 closing and we may sadly have the honor in closing the doors as we leave. What a great place...it will be missed by many. Meanwhile, it looks like I will be shopping around for a new location and making some changes.   R.A.
